Explanation

Cylindrical lenses are specifically designed to correct astigmatism by correcting the uneven curvature of the eye. Concave lenses are used for myopia (nearsightedness). Spherical lenses correct general focusing issues but not specific astigmatic irregularities. Convex lenses are generally used for hyperopia (farsightedness).
