Mercury thermometers are traditionally used for measuring boiling points accurately due to the known and stable properties of mercury. Liquid crystal thermometers are generally used for visual temperature indication rather than precise measurement at boiling points. Bimetallic thermometers measure temperature based on differential expansion and are not ideal for direct boiling point measurement. Alcohol thermometers have a lower boiling point than water, making them unsuitable for measuring the boiling point of water.
