Explanation

Creole languages develop from pidgins, which are contact languages formed between groups speaking different languages and used for communication (often for trade). A key feature of creoles is that they become nativized—the first language of the children who learn them—and thus acquire a stable, formal grammar, even if their vocabulary draws heavily from the dominant group's language.
