Explanation

The United States provides the largest and most significant nuclear arsenal to NATO. The United Kingdom contributes a smaller portion of the alliance's strategic forces. Germany does not possess its own independent strategic nuclear deterrent for NATO purposes. France maintains its own separate nuclear deterrent outside the core NATO guarantee.
