Keep it short and structured: name, education, relevant experience, and one or two qualities relevant to the post. Practice it out loud so it comes across naturally, not memorized.
Connect two or three genuine strengths directly to what the role needs, backed by a brief real example. Avoid comparing yourself negatively to other candidates.
For strengths, give evidence, not just a label. For weaknesses, name something real and minor, and describe what you're actively doing to improve it.
Describe a genuine setback, what you learned from it, and what you did differently afterward. Panels are testing self-awareness and growth, not looking for a perfect record.
Pause briefly before answering rather than rushing. It's fine to say "let me think about that for a moment" — a short, composed pause reads better than a rushed, disorganized answer.
Slouching, avoiding eye contact, fidgeting, crossed arms, and speaking too quietly all undercut an otherwise good answer. Sit upright, make natural eye contact, and speak at a steady pace.
Asking one thoughtful question when invited to shows genuine interest — don't ask about salary or leave policy at this stage.
