Explanation

Hagfish are jawless fish that retain characteristics of freshwater ancestors. Jelly Fish belong to a different phylum and do not fit this description. Star Fish are echinoderms, which are not fishes. Bony fishes represent a diverse group but are not exclusively direct descendents from freshwater ancestors in the way hagfish are considered here.
